Suriya turns cop again

After his blockbusters Suriya s/o Krishnan and Veedokkade (dubbed versions of Tamil films Vaaranam Aayiram and Ayan respctively), popular Telugu-Tamil actor Suriya is now getting ready to don a police officer's role in his forthcoming Singam to be directed by Hari, who earlier directed Suriya's Aaru (2005) and Vel (2007), and wielded the megaphone for Vikram's cop film Saamy (2003). Notably, Suriya earlier played a police officer in Goutham Menon's Kakka Kakka, which turned out to be an all-time mega hit in Suriya's career. Singam will have Tollywood hottie Anushka Shetty in the female lead. Devi Sri Prasad will score the music and Priyan cranks the camera. The film is being produced by Gnanavelraja under the banner of Studio Green and BIG Pictures. Meanwhile, according to latest trade reports, Suriya's Veeduokkade, directed by cinematographer turned director K.V. Anand, is turning to be a great success in Telugu as well. The action flick has already emerged as the top grosser in Tamil Nadu by collecting more than Rs. 50 crores. AVM, which sold the overseas rights to London-based Ayngaran International, had retained the Telugu dubbing rights of the film.
