I have worked with Suriya in Kaakka Kaakka, Ghajini and Sillunu Oru Kaadal. Kaakka Kaakka and Ghajini brought me a lot of recognition and Sillunu Oru Kaadal is a film I really liked. When Suriya listens to the script, he stays silent. However, once he gets into the script he gets completely involved. He continually keeps thinking of how he can perform the character from the first frame to the last. He would ask for takes until he was satisfied and would get into the skin of the character. He is a great artiste.

Suriya gets into bling mode

As far as fashion accessories are concerned, Kollywood has still a lot to do to catch up with their Bollywood counterparts. Salman’s bold earrings or Sanjay Dutt’s tattoos are just unimaginable among the tinsel townies of Kollywood. But looks like Suriya is all set to break the barriers by sporting a chunky little bling on his ears – a gold stud encrusted with diamond. Could be a follow up of his six-pack abs and the sporty clean shaved look, but Suriya does look hip and cool with his newly acquired accessory, sources that spotted the actor with the bling say.

Suriya agrees to it!

Music directors, nowadays, are keen on having the film heroes croon to their music. Though this is an age-old trend, which was put in cold storage for a few decades, it is being revived by the current generation of music directors.

The latest to join the bandwagon is Devi Sri Prasad. He had Vikram sing all the songs in Kanthaswamy and has made the album a real success. In fact, songs rendered by the heroes tend to give the film that extra leverage during publicity.

Devi Sri Prasad intends to repeat the magic in the Hari-directed Singam. Yes, he is in talks with Suriya to have him sing a song in his composition. Suriya is also said to give the go ahead.

An Icy Location for ‘Aadhavan’

Director K S Ravikumar has chosen the world’s coolest island, Iceland, to shoot few scenes for his movie ‘Aadhavan’, under the banner of Udhayanidhi Stalin’s Red Giant Movies.

Untouched by any other shooting camps before, the Iceland will be base for the crew that consists of Suriya and Nayantara, who play the lead roles. The movie is considered to be the second production of Red Giant Movies, the first film being the Vijay starred ‘Kuruvi’.

The other chosen location was Calcutta, where the shooting has already been finished. One of the highly developed countries, the scenic locales of Iceland is hoped to serve a perfect locale for shooting, especially the romantic scenes.

Surya sings for his film ‘Singam’

It’s time for Surya to take on for various endeavors. Couple of his endeavors is much illustrating about this. His debut in Bollywood with Ram Gopal Varma’s ‘Raktha Charithra’ and then crooning for the first time; of course this has been invigorating his spirits. Devi Sri Prasad who made Vikram render his voice for ‘Kandasamy’ has attempted with Surya. Director Hari’s ‘Singam’ has Surya in the role of a cop with Devi Sri Prasad scoring music. He has made Surya to sing a song to which the actor has agreed. Surya has almost completed shooting for his ‘Adhavan’ directed by K.S. Ravikumar and has been fast on getting completed with first schedule of ‘Singam’ too.

Surya’s 5 hour Bollywood film, Rakta Charitra

Suriya the shining star of Kollywood is set to enter the film capital of country, Bollywood with the guiding hand Ram Gopal Varma.

The actor is currently the most successful young star in South Indian films as he has won the appreciation of the masses with his performances. Surya’s latest film Ayan was successful at the box office. It was dubbed in Telugu and has received a good response from there too.

After hearing the storyline Suriya revealed that he agreed to star in Ram Gopal Varma’s Bollywood film Raktha Charithra. The actor had been discussing with RGV for several months and zeroed in on this venture. Suriya is playing a character with negative shades for this venture.

Ram Gopal Varma is known for films like Sarkar and Company which went on to be huge blockbusters. Ram Gopal Varma has introduced many south Indian heroes including Chakravarthy, Nagarjuna and Mohanlal to Hindi cinema.
Earlier Surya was to act in a Tamil production for RGV but it didn’t work out. Raktha Charith is based on Naxalite gang war. The movie is about late politician Paritala Ravi and his murder.

Vivek Oberoi will play the role of Paritala Ravi in this five hour lengthy film and will be released in two parts like the Hollywood hit Kill Bill. Surya is to appear in the climax of the first part and will be the protagonist in second part. The entire film will be shot at a stretch. The first part will be released in January 2010 and the second will hit the screen three months later.

Ratha Charithra is based on lives of two bigwigs of Andhra Pradesh; Parithala Ravi and Maatal Seruvu Suri. Vivek Oberai does the role of Paritala Ravi on whose life the movie is based on, Surya portrays the character of Maddalcheruvu Suri, and Paritala Ravi’s opponent. Ram Gopal Varma had revealed the first look of Vivek before few months.

Surya is currently in the sets of K.S.Ravikumar’s project Aadhavan and will be doing Hari’s Singam. After finishing these projects Suriya will take up Ratha Charithra.

The actor’s earlier movie Ghajini, which was remade in Hindi had Bollywood actor Aamir Khan in the lead. This movie did well at the box office.
